Description

Suke Quto Ethiopia

Tesfaye Bekele is one of the people who put the Guji region on the specialty coffee map.

The region was devastated by large fires between 1997 and 1999.

Tesfaye was one of those responsible for finding solutions to regenerate the area.

He distributed coffee seeds to locals in hopes of creating biodiversity.

However, most local farmers rejected the idea after hearing that it would take at least 4 years for the trees to bear fruit.

Disenchanted, he founded his own farm and washing station, Suke Quto.

There, he began to process some of the best coffee in the world.

His community ended up following in his footsteps and today his washing station processes most of the coffee in the area.
