Andalusia AeroPress Championship 2021
On July 3rd, we celebrated the 2021 Andalucía AeroPress Championship. After last year's hiatus due to the circumstances we're all familiar with, we were excited to return with this event, which is now an important date for all specialty coffee lovers in Andalusia.
Due to the protective measures we still have to take, this year we decided to hold a slightly simpler event than previous editions, with only participants, judges, and the organizers attending. It was still a huge success in terms of attendance.
We have 32 participants from all provinces of Andalusia competing in this AeroPress Championship. The Andalusia AeroPress Championship is part of the national AeroPress preparation championship circuit, so the finalists qualify for the national final.
Since this year we have 32 participants, the five finalists have qualified to attend this final .
The event took place on a July afternoon with pleasant temperatures, which is a welcome development in Seville during the summer.
All participants put their best skills to work preparing an AeroPress. It's worth noting that some of the preparation rules changed in this latest edition.
There are many factors that competitors must consider when preparing their recipe, from grind size to filter type , water quantity, quality, and temperature , to grind size and brewing time , among others. And all of this under pressure.
Like all previous events, one of our favorite things is seeing how this growing Andalusian coffee community comes together each year to celebrate what we're passionate about: coffee.
And how, despite it being a competition, there's always a good vibe and a celebratory spirit.
