Cold Brew Recipe

Cold brew coffee has its roots in Japan, where it became popular centuries ago. This method involves steeping ground coffee in cold water for an extended period, typically between 12 and 24 hours, resulting in a smooth, less acidic, and naturally sweet beverage.

What do you need to prepare it correctly?

When we make cold brew, we typically make larger quantities than with other brewing methods. So, we're suggesting a recipe for one liter of cold brew.

Amount of coffee:

71 grams (For best results, use a coffee recommended for Cold Brew)

Grinding:

21 clicks on a Comandante (medium/coarse grind)

Water:

1,000g/ml. of water at room temperature.

Composition:

We recommend Bezoya (or low-mineralization water)

Preparation:

  1. Grind the coffee to a medium/coarse grind
  2. Place the coffee directly into the filter of the carafe or bottle
  3. Pour the pre-weighed water into the carafe or bottle
  4. Stir gently to saturate all the coffee
  5. Cover the container
  6. Let steep for 16-24 hours in the refrigerator (beware of strong odors!)
  7. After this steeping time, remove the filter with the coffee, and it will be ready

BONUS:

Bonus 1: You can perform an additional filtering with a V60 or Kalita paper filter, cheesecloth, or something similar to get a cleaner and more crystal-clear result.

Bonus 2: For a top flavor, consume as soon as it's ready, as it oxidizes over time.

Bonus 3: Do not shake or press the coffee to avoid extracting bitter flavors or sediments.

Bonus 4: You can freeze Cold Brew in ice cubes and use them to chill your Cold Brew or for making other beverages.

Bonus 5: Food safety: wash your hands and utensils properly. Keep for a maximum of 3 days in the refrigerator in a glass container, preferably closed and without any additives (sugar, milk, etc.).
