AeroPress Go

The AeroPress coffee maker is one of our most recommended methods for preparing specialty coffee at home in an easy and convenient way, yet with excellent results.

The AeroPress is a coffee maker that combines immersion methods (like a French press) with filter methods (like a Hario V60) and also adds pressure.

This offers great versatility when creating different recipes, as we can play with many different variables, from the coarseness of the grind to the immersion or pressing time, among others.

The results can be excellent and different depending on the recipe we follow.

It is no coincidence that a world championship is being organized focusing on this production method.

At Ineffable , we've been organizing a regional version in Andalusia for several years, which qualifies for the national championship.

How an AeroPress Go Works

The AeroPress coffee maker is made up of three parts. One is a plastic cylinder, hollow inside and open at both ends.

The other is a plastic cylinder, also hollow, but closed at one end and which fits perfectly into the previous one, creating a vacuum seal thanks to a piece of rubber.

Finally, we have a plastic filter that hooks onto one of the cylinders and whose function is to hold the paper filter.

The simplest way to visualize it is as a syringe with a filter instead of a needle at the end. The operation is also similar.

We insert one cylinder into another, once we have a container we pour in the coffee, pour in the water and let it infuse.

Next, we fit the plastic filter, into which we previously placed a paper one.

We turn everything upside down and, over a container, we press so that one cylinder slowly inserts completely into the other and the coffee infusion filters through.

How to Make Coffee with an AeroPress Go

There are several ways to use this preparation method, but we will focus on the most common, the inverted formula, and we recommend that you start by following this recipe:

Equipment : AeroPress, filter, scale, timer, grinder, cup/decant, stirrer, and kettle.

Time : 2:00 min Coffee: 15gr

Water : 230g of filtered water at 93º C
We recommend water with a dry residue between 125 and 175 mg/liter.

Method :
1. Turn the AeroPress upside down and pour water into it to preheat the machine. Discard this water.
2. Place the paper filter in the AeroPress lid. Pour hot water over it to remove the papery taste (this is done separately from the base).
3. Grind the coffee to a medium level.
4. Place the AeroPress on the scale, add the coffee, tare the scale, and start the timer.
5. Pour in the 230g of water and stir gently a couple of times.
6. Insert the filter, after 1:30 min turn the AeroPress upside down and place it in the cup/decanter.
7. Gently lower the AeroPress for 30 seconds, for the total 2:00 min, until you hear a hiss and it's ready to drink.

The result should be a cup of coffee with a balanced profile, sweet and with very little residue. But everything will depend on the recipe you create.

As we've said, the Aeropress is a great tool to improve your coffee-making skills.

You can start by following the recipe we've suggested, but you can also let your creativity run wild.

Who knows, maybe you'll be the next winner of the Andalusian AeroPress Championship , or the Spanish one... and why not, the world one? It's all about getting started!
