The Chemex coffee maker was designed in 1941 by German scientist Peter J. Schlumbohm, based on the shape of a laboratory funnel and an Erlenmeyer flask, a shape that even reminds us of an hourglass.

This simple yet aesthetic design has been permanently displayed in institutions such as the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA) in New York, the Smithsonian Museum, the Corning Museum of Glass, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and is recognized as one of the most iconic works of the 20th century.

The technique for preparing coffee with the Chemex is completely manual, offering a filtered beverage that is clear, smooth, and free of bitterness.

This coffee maker is highly valued in coffee culture for its simplicity and efficiency, allowing you to create an exquisite and refined coffee in less than five minutes, without sacrificing its elegance and distinctive style.

It's made of non-porous borosilicate glass, ideal for preventing odors and residue from previous preparations. It's easy to use, and its design is classic and refined.

The neck of the Chemex coffee maker features a polished wooden collar with a leather strap. Filters are not included. It is available in 3- and 6-cup versions.

Steps to the Perfect Cup of Coffee with your Chemex Coffee Maker

Discover how to master the art of making coffee with the Chemex:

Place the filter in the top cone, making sure all 3 layers are facing the landfill.
Rinse the filter with hot water to remove unwanted flavors and preheat the coffee maker.
Remove accumulated water after rinsing.
Add ground coffee (30 grams per 1/2 liter) to the medium-grind filter. The Chemex enhances the flavors, eliminating bitterness.
Pour hot water (93°C) in small quantities to moisten the beans and release their desirable components.
Make a second infusion with hot water, pouring slowly to saturate the grains and keep the water below the rim.
When you have prepared the desired amount of coffee, lift the filter and discard the grounds.

Enjuaga el filtro con agua caliente para eliminar sabores no deseados y precalienta la cafetera.
Elimina el agua acumulada tras el enjuague.
Añade café molido (30 gramos por cada ½ litro) en el filtro de molienda media. La Chemex resalta los sabores, eliminando la amargura.
